2004 results - corporate responsibility index

Results for the 2004 Australian Corporate Responsibility Index were published in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age on 4 April 2005.

Westpac has achieved first place in the Index, followed closely by BP, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Toyota.

St James Ethics Centre, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Ernst & Young would like to congratulate the twenty-seven participating companies in the 2004 Index. We would also like to thank these companies and the members of the non-government organisation advisory group for their continuing support and guidance, which ensures the robustness and relevance of the Index.

The second Corporate Responsibility Index in Australia has achieved a higher average overall score than the inaugural Index by 5%, raising it to 82%, despite efforts to make the Index more challenging.
