St James Ethics Centre is a fully independent, not-for-profit organisation which provides a non-judgmental forum for the promotion and exploration of ethics. Since it was established in 1989, the Centre's mission has been to encourage and assist individuals, business and organisations to include the ethical dimension in their daily lives, and thereby help to create a better world.

St James Ethics Centre has long believed in the importance of finding ways to encourage Australian business to adopt best practice in the field of corporate responsibility. With the support of the Federal Government through Treasury, the Centre is undertaking a three year project to expand responsible business practice nationally.

An important part of this project is supporting initiatives and tools that will advance this agenda and establish greater corporate responsibility in Australia – such as the Corporate Responsibility Index.
